CARE AND HANDLING

  • It is important to remember that your edible art is food. The Texas heat, butter, and sugar don't mix well. Review and refer back to these tips to help keep your cake safe.

  • Please make sure your cake pickup is the very last stop before traveling to your final destination.

  • The cake cannot be left in a vehicle without proper air conditioning for any length of time.

  • The cake will need to ride flat. The front floorboard or the back of an SUV, a hatchback is usually perfect. In a seat, on someone's lap, or in a trunk is not recommended.

  • Bento Bakes cannot be held responsible for cakes traveling outside the Austin Texas area. But, we are more than happy to provide you with additional tips if you do decide to travel a longer distance.

  • It is recommended that your cake is stored in a refrigerator until at least 4 hours before serving. However, the cake is best served closer to room temp. Remove the cake from the fridge a minimum of 30 minutes before for single tiers and 1 hour before for multiple tiers.

  • Bento Bakes does not recommend and cannot be held responsible for cakes displayed or served at outdoor events or in halls, barns, houses without air conditioning that can maintain at least 78°.

  • You should confirm and make guests aware of any non-edible elements on or in your cake.

  • If you ordered a tiered or 3D cake, then it most likely contains a support structure. This may include several supports in each tier, a cake board under each tier, and a long sharpened wooden dowel going thru the entire cake and into the base.

  • Sculpted figures and toppers may have skewers, toothpicks, or wire used for support.

  • Some elements; although edible, should be consumed with caution. Especially with young children. This can include larger or metallic sprinkles/dragees, hard candies, gumballs, gems, pearls.

  • Isomalt is a sugar substitute that can be used for decorations such as, gemstones, ice cubes, lollipops, glass, or water effects. Isomalt is not intended to be consumed in large quantities.

  • Even simple or smaller fondant decorations can be a hazard for babies and toddlers. It is recommended to remove all fondant before allowing little ones to eat cake.

  • To get the most servings out of your cake, it should be cut into a grid or squares rather than wedges, like a pie.

  • If you have any questions about traveling, storing or serving your cake, we are happy to help.
